About Us

The best estate agents have a thorough technical knowledge of property; the local area and conveyancing as well as being fussy perfectionists with a camera and putting as much effort into the preparation of property particulars as writing an A-grade essay. They are a hand to hold and the voice of reason when things are getting rocky and the people who should joyfully dance with you when you finally collect the key to your new house. They should, above all, care deeply about you the customer and your home.

We are blessed to have an office full of these wonderful people…

    A little bit about me...

I was the first of my family born on the Isle of Wight but feel like an Islander through and through. After being educated in Ryde, I joined a local estate agency after my A Levels. Buying my own agency in 2005 was the best 30th birthday present ever! I’m surrounded by an amazing group of friends and colleagues who all share my passion for property and people. I live in Brighstone with my three doggy babies (you’ll meet the gang if you pop into my office).

    • My role as Managing Director:

The overall running of the business (fun stuff like accounts and VAT returns); specialist market appraisals, especially village property and making sure we offer a level of service that surprises and delights our customers.

    • What makes me smile:

Getting my hands in the dirt at my allotment surrounded by sprinting sighthounds.

    • Not my cup of tea:

Incorrectly used apostrophes on advertising signs. Grr!

    • Favourite Island spot:

Brook beach at low tide on a freezing but bright winter morning.

    • Guilty Pleasure:

Crocheting when I should be doing my VAT return! (And Channing Tatum but don’t tell anyone.)

    A little bit about me...

I was born and bred on the Island, and am a Gurnard girl. I lived away for a few years in London and then realised the error of my ways and moved back with my husband in 1996. My background as a financial advisor eventually led to working in estate agency, which is where I met Megan. When she set up on her own in 2005 I was thrilled to join her and here I am, doing something that I love and am lucky enough to be good at. I cannot imagine working anywhere else or with anyone else, and even though being a great estate agent is stressful and emotional, it is hugely rewarding and I wouldn’t swap it for the world!

    • My role as Office Manager:

The daily running of the office and supporting the team; market appraisals all over the Island and the juicy, difficult parts of sales progressing.

    • What makes me smile:

Long sunny days; really good locally sourced food and exploring in my VW camper.

    • Not my cup of tea:

Having to cook my own tea.

    • Favourite Island spot:

Gurnard Green at sunset – it is where my husband and I sat and decided to come back to the Island, and have never regretted it..

    • Guilty Pleasure:

      Strictly come dancing…  SEVEEEEEN!

    • Super Power (according to Megan):

Quite simply the best estate agent on the IW.  (I’ve no proof but I dare you to find a better one!)

    A little bit about me...

Born in Carisbrooke, I have lived on the Island all my life and love it here. I joined the MBEA team in 2014 as an Administrator and can honestly say submitting my application was one of the best career decisions I’ve ever made. Having not had any previous estate agency experience it was an exciting new challenge to learn from the ground up and have made new friends along the way. I now live in East Cowes with the men in my life (my amazing husband and two young sons).

    • My role as Administrator:

The cheerful front face of the office handling all the administrative aspects of the business as well as chasing sales through from point of offer to exchange of contracts.

    • What makes me smile:

Sitting in front of my sewing machine working on my latest project.

    • Not my cup of tea:

Frogs (they know my fear and always jump at me)

    • Favourite Island spot:

Carisbrooke Castle – I have some great childhood memories of walking around the moat in height order with friends (I was always at the back for being the shortest)

    • Guilty Pleasure:

      Watching trashy MTV  programs.

    • Super Power (according to Megan):

The most organised person I’ve ever worked with. (And unfailingly happy every day!)

  • Luca & Nimrod

    A little bit about me...

Luca – Head of Well Being

Luca, on the left, is here to help us de-stress during our busy day in the office. His soulful eyes and gentle manner can only make you feel chilled, and remind you what is important in the world. He may not say much, but his loving nature speaks volumes and he helps us all get through particularly difficult transactions.

    Nimrod – Head of Reception

Nimrod, on the right, loves to greet clients when they come into the office with a gentle woof and a wag of his tail. He also thinks of himself as a bit of a security guard, so be prepared for him to check your shopping bags for you, just in case you happen to be carrying sausages, which he might have to take away for inspection.

  • Just to say thank you so much for all your help and support through the last few months – you have been amazing, going above and beyond the call of duty!  I’m so pleased and relieved it all worked out in the end – at times I didn’t believe we’d get to this point, so thank you and your team, I really appreciate everything you’ve done.

    Mr & Mrs M – Newport
  • To add to the excellent service, a card and a bottle of bubbly on completion was the icing on the cake . These small gestures  make such a difference to the whole buying and selling  process and I can highly recommend this firm to anybody contemplating moving house.

    Mrs B – Ryde
  • We are delighted in the very professional way in which you and your team have efficiently dealt with each situation which arose during this journey of selling our property.  Throughout this sale, we have felt you have kept us regularly well informed of each opportunity and viewings and even when at times this was slow you kept us informed and engaged in the process.

    Mr R – East Cowes
  • At no time did I feel that you were just ‘doing the job’, you walked the extra mile on our behalf….this makes you a very hard act for any other estate agents to follow.

    Ms B – Ryde
  • We have had such a positive experience from start to finish with the whole team. We have got to know them all by name, we have been kept in the loop at all times and they have handled this difficult and emotional selling experience so professionally and personally we would certainly recommend them and use them again. They understood this was a big journey for us selling our home and didn’t just see it as business! Highly recommend! Thank you all!

    Mrs N – Newport
  • Thank you very much for all you have done to help me move and find my ‘perfect little house’.

    Mrs S – Cowes

    Mr W – Cowes
  • I would like to express my grateful thanks to your professional and friendly team, from the wonderful coloured brochure composed with great attention to detail which I will treasure, through the viewings to final completion. I especially looked forward to the hand written notes left after viewings, giving truthful feedback. You all helped to make the stressful process as easy as possible. Thank you all.

    Mrs R – Cowes
  • So nice to have phone calls always returned, and ‘rightmove’ always updated with the correct information! I know I am not alone when I say they are simply a cut above everyone else.

    Ms J – Cowes
  • Anne and the Megan Baker team have been fantastic in selling our home. From start to finish they were honest, respectful and totally professional. The whole experience has been a very quick process, 8 weeks from first viewing to exchanging contracts, and that has a lot to do with Anne and her insatiable appetite for getting the job done!! Many thanks to you all. I will not hesitate to recommend or use again in the future.

    Mr & Mrs B -Cowes
  • It has been an absolute pleasure working with you all at Megan Baker.  I would recommend you to everyone.  If anyone in the future wants a reference, send them my way! I can’t thank you enough for everything, you’ve been brilliant!

    Mrs S – Cowes
  • Anne, Megan, Jennifer and the team at Megan Bakers have been fantastic throughout our house sale. Communication has been great, with almost daily updates from the team. If you’re contemplating some of the web-only agents then I seriously urge you to consider the other benefits you receive from using a local agent. I hope that we won’t be using any more estate agents for a long while, but if we do, it will be Megan and the team!

    Mr & Mrs C – Cowes
  • From the start Anne and her team gave an outstanding service, advising on dressing the house for sale, supporting with solicitor’s paperwork and even sitting with the dog when a surveyor needed to visit. I could not have asked for a better service or more support and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Anne and Team for all your hard work, you made a stressful time much easier and we could not be more grateful.

    Miss M – Cowes
  • We were the purchasers in this transaction and the experience was excellent. We were kept informed of progress at all times by Megan and her great team. We would not hesitate to use this company if we were selling a property.

    Mr & Mrs S – Ventnor
